“Mister Cello” is what my youngest cello students call my cello. They are amazed at what’s possible on the instrument as they encounter it for the first time. Since I consider myself a student of the cello as well, I put myself in the shoes of my youngest students for this project. I’m exploring music styles from around the world that fascinate, baffle, or inspire me, interpreting what I find on the cello, and combining the results with the dance music elements that I love.
